# Unable to place MARKET order through Alice Blue API – EC965

Hi Team,

I am testing order placement using the Alice Blue API.

When I place a **LIMIT** order, the API accepts it and returns a `brokerOrderId`.

However, when I try to place a **MARKET** order using:

```auto
{
  "exchange": "NSE",
  "instrumentId": "14366",
  "transactionType": "BUY",
  "quantity": 1,
  "product": "INTRADAY",
  "orderComplexity": "REGULAR",
  "orderType": "MARKET",
  "validity": "DAY"
}

```

I receive:

```auto
{
  "status": "Ok",
  "message": "Success",
  "result": [
    {
      "status": "EC965",
      "message": "Market orders are not allowed.",
      "brokerOrderId": ""
    }
  ]
}

```

I am able to place MARKET orders manually through the Alice Blue trading platform.

Could you please confirm:

1. Are MARKET orders currently blocked specifically for API orders?
2. If yes, is this restriction applicable to all Alice Blue API users?
3. Is there any account/API activation required to enable MARKET orders?
4. If MARKET orders are not supported through API, should we use LIMIT orders instead?

Please clarify the current supported behaviour for MARKET orders through the API.

I have raised a support ticket regarding the MARKET order API issue.

**Ticket Number: #2150823**

The issue is regarding `EC965 - Market orders are not allowed` while placing MARKET orders through the Alice Blue API.

Hi Team,

Just an update regarding this issue.

I had already raised a manual support ticket earlier:  
**Ticket #2150823**

As advised, I also emailed the API team regarding the same MARKET order issue, and a new support request was generated:  
**Ticket #2151010**

Both tickets are regarding the same issue: `EC965 - Market orders are not allowed` for MARKET orders through the Alice Blue API.

Kindly refer to either ticket and forward it to the concerned API team.
